 Leg and foot

Using waste yarn, CO 140 sts. Change to main yarn.

Row 1 (RS): K30 (cuff section), PM, K42 (leg section), {K1, P1} 7 times, PM, {K1, P1} 7 times (heel section), K40 (foot section).

Row 2 (WS): P40, {P1, K1} 14 times, P42, K30.

Rep these two rows 3 times more, sl markers as you come to them.

Row 9 (RS): Keeping cuff section in garter st, heel section in seed st, and leg and foot sections in st st, work to 2 sts before marker at center of heel, K2tog, sl marker, SSK, work to end of row.

Row 10: Work in pattern as established.

Rep these two rows 6 times more — 126 sts rem.

Keeping cuff section in garter st, but working leg, heel and foot sections in st st, continue without shaping for 48 rows.

Row 71 (RS): K30 (cuff section), K42 (leg section), {K1, P1} 7 times (heel section), K40 (foot section).

Row 72: P40, {P1, K1} 7 times, P42, K30.

Row 73: Keeping cuff section in garter st, heel section in seed st, and leg and foot sections in st st, work to 1 st before marker at center of heel, m1, K1, sl marker, K1, m1, work to end of row.

Row 74: Work in pattern as established.

Rep last 2 rows 6 times more — 140 sts.

Maintaining st patterns as established, work 6 more rows without shaping.

Remove waste yarn. As you pick out the waste yarn stitch by stitch, you will free the bottom loops of your first row of knitting. Place these new sts on the extra circular needle. Graft the last row worked to the first row using the kitchener st.

 Toe

Using double pointed needles, beg at grafted seam, pick up and K 64 sts around toe end of sock. Divide among 3 needles, beg at grafted seam, with 16 sts on needle 1, 32 sts on needle 2 and 16 sts on needle 3.

P 1 round.

Work 2 rounds of seed st.

Shape toe
Round 1:
Needle 1 — Work in seed st to 2 sts before end, K2tog.
Needle 2 — SSK, work in seed st to 2 sts before end, K2tog.
Needle 3 — SSK, work in seed st to end.

Round 2:
Needle 1 — Work in seed st to last st, K1.
Needle 2 — K1, work in seed st to last st, K1.
Needle 3 — K1, work in seed st to end.

Rep these two rounds until 32 sts rem, then rep round 1 only until 8 sts rem. Break yarn, draw through rem 8 sts, pull tight and fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Block to finished measurements.

Size US 2 (2.75 mm) 24" circular needle. Extra size US 2 (2.75 mm) circular needle any length. Set of 4 size US 2 (2.75 mm) double pointed needles or size required to obtain gauge

30 sts and 40 rows = 4" in garter st
